This was it.
She will turn 17 in another 10 months.
The whole class might throw her a party, she didn’t really need one, she thought.
She’s old enough, but hey, what the heck.
She will miss her school.
She’ll turn eighteen next year and be heading right off to college.
This was her last year here.
She’s getting out of school early because she’s smart. A straight A student, funny, positive, optimistic and always smiling and very social and friendly.
Everywhere, every corner of the school that she went, people will always say hi to her every time they pass this girl.
Who was she???
She’s Fiena, a smart 17 year old.
********************************************
She needed a job.
She must have a job.
Such a bright student like her must, find a way to even earn her own money.
She couldn’t just rely on her parents.
And there it was, the workplace.
Unfortunately for her, there were no jobs available at the moment, but, that strange little shop that’s just opened in town.
A café.
A maid café.
A cosplaying maid café.
Strange, indeed.
She just have to get a job.
The pay seems high too.
This was it, she was about to cross the street, the café was on the other side of the road.
This was it.
She took a step, not realizing the light was still red.
She’s just so obnoxious for her job interview.
The last thing she saw a car, moving fast and speed towards her.
The last thing she heard was, was a loud crash made by a vehicle, must’ve been a car.
And the last thing she felt was pain, real pain and her blood gushing down.
This was so not it.
*******************************
Black.
Just open it.
Take your strength
She thought.
She tried her very best to speak, her throat very sore.
She could still smell, and breath. Which meant there was hope and she’s still alive.
“Don’t push yourself, dear.” Said a warm voice.
It was a woman’s voice, but not her mother’s, nor her sisters.
“Just relax, I’ll unbandage your eyes and you’ll be seeing again.”
She did what the woman said. And slowly opened her eyes again.
She could see.
She could see she was in a hospital wad, the room filled with get-well, get-better-soon cards all colourful, stuffed toys, flowers, chocolates, colored balloons, her parents and siblings.
“Fiena! I’m glad that you’re safe, sweetie!!” said her mother hugging her tightly and in tears, who was at first, sitting next to her father.
“….”
She still hears the sobs of a loved mother.
“W…”
“Yes?”
“Wat….”
“Dear, just say it..”
“Wate…” she said, throat still sore and her weak hands slowly lifting up, pointing at the direction of a glass of clear water standing still on the end table.
Her mother took the glass of water, gently giving it to her, allowing her to drink.
She took it willingly and drank.
It started with a slow sip, and ends with a satisfying gulp.
“How do you feel now?” said the woman.
She nodded.
“Fiena, this doctor Serafina, she’s the woman who saved your life a lot, so we owe her a really big one.” Said her mother introducing a blond haired woman with some blue streaks which looked quite odd and her eyes, were the strangest. It was a mix of quite bright colors, yellow, pink and blue in one spot. And her left eye, she was wearing an eyepatch. Quite strange.
Then Fiena realized.
She, had her left eye closed.
Still bandage actually. Her right eye roamed freely around the room.
“You can open the eye patch after 1 month if you wish, but your left eye would look different. We can’t find another eye replacement like yours, and other eyes are just infected so, I donated my left eye and some of my blood, seeing we have the same type of blood.” Smiled Dr. Serafina as if it was nothing.
“Thank you, doctor, for saving my life.” Said Fiena.
“It was nothing, Fiena” smiled the beautiful doctor. How ever, the doctor was smiling, Fiena could sense some sadness in her voice, and that somehow, bothers Fiena.
“So, when will I get out of here?” she asked.
“You will be out of here, in another week, rest a lot, love you dear” said her mother, smiling and kissing her on both cheeks.
“Stay healthy and don’t eat anything suspicious!” said her father, stroking her hair gently.
“Ok, mum and dad”
“We’ll be visiting you again tomorrow, it’s already late now” said her mother.
Late?
She glanced at a big wall-clock up the wad door.
It was 1.30 a.m.
“I love you mum and dad. You too, brothers and sisters” she said, not realizing she was in tears.
“Oh, Fiena, we love you too.” Said her mother, hugging her.
“Ok, bye sweetie, sleep, rest, we’ll be here again tomorrow first thing in the morning.”
Her parents left an hour ago.
She couldn’t sleep.
She had to much enough sleep already.
She was laying in the hospital bed.
She heard the nurses caring for the other patients, the soft snores of the other patients.
They are having a good sleep. She thought
She slowly got up.
Taking time and strength to get up and stand properly without falling.
She finally stood up.
She opened the wad door slowly and quietly, aware that she might woke some of the patients up.
She walked slowly, still felt weak.
Walking along the corridors, the hospital was a bit dark, she didn’t mind.
Because that was what she saw.
Total empty darkness.
She was walking when she caught a glimpse of an opened window and a girl sitting on it.
Quite strange.
The girl, looked 17 and had long black hair with red and hot pink streaks tied in a ponytail. She was sitting there, a book and a pencil in hand, sketching, or writing maybe, Fiena thought.
This was dangerous, why would the nurses leave a 17 year old patient just sitting there on the window and the floor was like, the highest and Fiena also worried that the girl might lose balance and fell to her death.
But the girl, wasn’t a patient. She wasn’t wearing a patient robe, like the one Fiena was wearing. Instead, she wore a black shirt, long sleeves and a pair of black jeans and combat boots. It also happens that she was wearing a necklace with a red ruby. The girl was busy sketching she might not noticed Fiena.
“Urm…” Fiena suddenly let out.
This was bad, what if Fiena’s sudden sound surprised the girl and she would fall?
But, she didn’t.
She just looked at Fiena.
Then Fiena realized.
The girl, had rosy red eyes.
Quite strange but pretty.
The girl, still smiling said “Well, hello there”
What?
“Pretty moon, tonight, hm?” asked the girl, in a friendly tone.
She saw the clear bright moon shining.
“You better be careful.” Said the girl.
What?
“You better be careful or else the wolves will come and devour you.” Laughed the girl.
Ok, was this an ill-mental patient?
The wind suddenly blew really strong and the girl, still smiling calmly as if she wasn’t afraid of death.
Fiena took fast steps and went to the nurse’s counter.
“Miss, go back in bed, surely you’re tired.” Said the nurse in charge.
“I’ve seen a 17 year old female patient, sitting on an open window on the 10th floor, sketching or writing something I don’t know.” Said Fiena.
“What!?” said the nurse in disbelief.
Both of them went to the 10th floor and saw the window, fully close, not allowing the strong wind to enter one bit.
“Miss, don’t make such silly statements and go back to your wad.” Said the nurse, quite angry.
“But I wasn’t.”
“Then describe this patient”
“She was a girl, my age, black hair with red streaks, and she had red eyes!!! I swear! But she wasn’t wearing a patient robe!” Fiena blurted out, nervously.
But the nurse seemed irritated.
“Miss, please, get back to bed. I’m terribly busy and you’ draught to be dreadfully tired.” Said the nurse, gently escorting Fiena to her wad.
Fiena sighed.
Now what is she supposed to do??
She glance all over the room, seeing the gifts she got.
Also, boxes of chocolates, candies and some of her favourite food.
Eh, why not???
Fiena finally fell asleep at 4.30 a.m., leaving boxes of chocolates, bottles of mineral water empty.
She certainly had a feast.
***********************************
A week past away so darn quickly.
Fiena thought.
She’s gonna miss Dr. Serafina, the friendly hospital staff and the sincere of the other patients, and her special big wad which had a television in there.. She’ll never forget them. But, the most crucial important thing she’ll never forget was the meeting with that girl.
That strange girl.
And now, she’s back in school.
She’s been more famous than before.
Just one step out of her parents car, the other students came rushing and interviewed questions so many that she lost count.
Questions like:
“Fiena, how are you?”
“Fiena, did that operation hurt??”
“Fiena, can I see your eye?”
“Fiena, were the nurses hot?”
“Fiena, was it a sexy guy doctor?”
She didn’t had time to answer all those questions.
In class, she sat next to Dorothy Stewarts, her best friend.
Dorothy was sweet, gentle brunette. She and Fiena tend to do things together since elementary with their other friend, Jovianna and the trio became best friends.
“Hey Fiena, how you’re feeling?” Dorothy asked.
“I’m fine, Dor…”
“Hope you are….. here….” Said the brunette, handing a perfect neatrly folded present.
“What’s this?” asked Fiena.
“Open it and find out”
She opened it and it was a box. She opened the box to only found the contents were chocolate, candy and gummies.
“Dorothy, thanks! You’re the best friend ever!”
“It’s not just that” said Dorothy, fiddling something between the sweet delicacies.
Underneath those sweets was a picture.
A picture of three smiling men.
A picture of three men that Fiena has a crush on.
A picture of Mr. Ludwig, Mr. Arthur and Mr. Heracles.
This was funny.
A 17 year old girl, having a crush on her gym teacher, her English teacher and her Literature teacher.
**********************************
After school, Fiena and Dorothy didn’t went straight to home.
Instead, they went to Fiena’s would-be workplace.
Lolita Latte.
“H-hello, I- I’m F-Fiena Karen Mc’ Taylor, I would like to apply for a job, here.” She said, more like stuttered actually.
“Eh?” said a girl, who greeted them.
She was tall, had orange hair and grassy green eyes, she was wearing an orange cosplay outfit. She looked 17, like Fiena and she was pretty cute and the type of girl you would say “wild but gentle.”
“I’m sorry, but you need to speak with our boss first.”
“Ah, ok!”
“What’s this, Syaira?” appeared a girl.
The girl, she too was wearing the same outfit except with the colour black.
“Alice, this girl, wants to apply here.”
“Sure, why not?” smirked the girl called Alice.
“Come here” said the dark-haired beauty grabbing Fiena’s arm.
“Mia, come out now, someone wants to apply for a job.”
“I’m coming” said a voice in reply.
“Hurry up, you fool”
“Ok, Fine”
“Stop saying fine! You know I hate it when you say that with tthat tone you always use!” shrieked the dark haired girl angrily.
“Ok, ok” said a girl, must be Mia, finally revealing herself.
Oh my god….
Fiena’s eye grew wider, her mouth opening and it turned out to be a scream as she saw the sight of the girl stepping out .“OMG!!! It’s you! You’re the psycho I met at the hospital!!! You’re the girl who was sketching on the window!!! It’s you! You weren’t a dream after all!!”
She must’ve been loud, since the other customers were looking at her in shock.
“I’m sorry, young miss, please, calm your voice down, your scaring my customers.” Said the girl called Mia.
“I’m sorry”
“You wish to apply for a job? Here? At Lolita Latte?”
“Yeah, I would be so happy if you accepted me to be a part of this café.”
“Your hired”
“And I would be working so hard! Please! Approve me here”
“Your hired”
“Before you reject my appliance, I wan- What?”
“You. Are. Hired.” The girl repeated.
“Re-really? Thank you!!!”
“Now, come here.”
“Eh?”
“Now that you’re hired, you start work today. I’ll have Alice and Syaira train you how to work here, the café starts at 1.30, but we start early, so you have to come early, like 12.30 or something. Next, you serve customers, and also, wash the dishes, clean the shop up before and after shift hours, do anything that is necessary. But, you won’t do the tasks alone, the others will be doing it too and when the customers aren’t here yet, you can have a tea break. Understand?”
“Um. I understand fully, ma’am.”
“Oh, here, you don’t need to be so formal. Allow me to introduce you to some of our Lolita Latte crew.”
“Guys! Employee meeting!” The others just left their jobs and went to the rest room which was located at the back of the café.
“I’m Mia, the owner. This is my cousin, Zalia, she’s second in charge.” Said Mia, pointing to a beautiful long blue- hair lass.
“That’s Syaira and Alice, your trainers” and she was looking at the two girls she met earlier.
“That’s Gwen”
“Hi there” said a girl with soft blue curly locks tied in a ponytail.
“That’s Enyz, our angel maid.” And to that Mia pointed towards a brunette who really deserved to be called an ‘angel’.
“That’s Fazzy”
“Yo!” said a blonde girl wearing headphones. Apparently, she also had black streaks.
“That’s Rita, she’s head kitchen staff” Mia said, pointing towards a tall girl with tan skin. Her brown curly locks matched with her skin tone and her violet eyes.
“She looks a bit old” thought Fiena.
“Guys, this is Fiena, our new employee.”
“Nice to meet you, Fiena” said the rest of the girls.
“Ok, back to work.”
“Fiena, we have uniforms here, but just tell me your size and your favourite colour.” Said Mia.
“Urm, my size would be medium, and my fav colour is green and blue.”
“What about turquoise?”
“That works too.”
“Ok, I have to sew your uniform, so today, you work in the kitchen with Rita.”
“O-ok. I’ll do my best!!”
Still deep down in Fiena’s heart, she still thinks this shop is quite strange.
so big..........even cool
